I don’t necessarily disagree with much here. Princess Mononoke is definitely a fine film and herds-people certainly seemed to be intimately connected with the circle of life. Now though, after a few thousand years of culture and with historical times coming to an end, the disconnect has never been greater. Our attention is stretched and spread so thinly that nothing sticks.

If one can live ones life as a regenerative farmer or herdsman, then this is fortunate indeed; This takes lots of open space and a certain freedom of movement though.

When space is limited and one is confined to the choices of a consumer, then Veganism seems like a reasonable reaction to this ‘waking force’ of reconnection. We can choose what we wish to endorse and what we wish to see flourish. It seems to be about respect, which is the opposite of mindlessness. We only have 3 points of contact with the world at large, The food we eat, the air we breathe and the sensory impressions we receive; If we do not have consideration for these fundamentals then we are somehow dazed and confused, living an automatic life.

I would say that it has never been easier to live well on a plant based diet, if that is your choice of course.
