I don’t want to stretch this analogy too far, but i think there is still plenty of scope for fresh realisation and correspondences, so will persist.

Taking the idea that there may be a state of realisation, enlightenment or illumination available to ‘us’ that is as different and transformational in scope and scale, as our nightly dream world is to our 3D waking world. Then we can, as an exercise, envisage our known waking world as the dream world, enabling us to extrapolate what ‘waking up’ into illumination might entail and getting an impression of the scale of transformation.

Can we really say that the dreamer and the woken are the same person? They inhabit entirely different worlds. The dreamer is carried along by the power of the dream and is at its mercy.

Is the dream and the dreamer the same thing? To us they seem to be made of the same stuff.

True transformation would mean waking up completely, which entails the death of the dreamer and also of the dream.

If someone is illuminated or awoken in our 3D world here, then, in the analogy, this would be a form of ‘lucid dreaming’ . The dreamer has died, but the dream remains. The ‘woken’ has penetrated the dream taking the place of the dreamer, and has the power to influence the dream. The awoken has ‘true will power’ and knows the dream to be a dream. We dreamers are of the dream, bound to the dream and slaves to the dream!

Would we as dreamers be able to discern who is a lucid dreamer and who is a dream; In our world could we discern an illuminated soul from a regular person?

If we were ‘switched on’, not enterily in thrall of the dream, we might catch on that there was something unusual here. Strange and uncanny happenings might surround this figure. The waking force ‘freshens’ the dream.

The dreamer and the awoken are aspects of the same thing. One is more substantial than the other though. The dreamer seeks its own destruction in joining with the awoken. The dreamer ‘lives on’ only as memory and experience of the awoken.
