The image of the torus comes to mind, where seemingly 2 directions of travel turn out to be one.

Gurdjieffs named this reciprocal process, ‘trogoautoegocrat’; I eat myself and remain.

The so called ‘ray of creation’ is involution, where many come out of the one. The opposite flow is evolution, where many return into the one.

According to Gurdjieff, to maintain these processes there are needed means whereby one kind of energy can act upon another; These he called apparatuses or being-apparatuses. We humans are such apparatuses, individually and as a whole.

Like little energy factories that spontaneously arise from the background chaos to facilitate the combining and ‘moving on’ of energies.
