I imagine that from a certain viewpoint our entire ‘life’ can be seen as an object; An object that can be apprehended in a single glance.

Of course, we as avatars or place holders at a specific point within that ‘object’ do not have this view.

There is ‘free-will’ to navigate the object as habit or ‘conscious’ decision dictates, but all is ‘already’ there, set out. Certain routes are well travelled with well defined branches, other ways are less so, but may turn out to be inconsequential, only leading back to a known highway; Sometimes though, it may take us to a new route. One with fresh and uncharted decision branches.

To dream, is to loosen the fixation on our particular position, casting a hazy light on likely futures, alternate presents, and unexplored pasts.

To succumb to automation and habit is to roll marble like along those routes most gouged and tramelled.

There might even be multiple travellers negotiating the same timeless ‘object’. Other alternate us’s.

Where the routes converge close enough to almost touch, we may even be able to catch a glimpse of them.
