I sometimes think, ‘You can’t always get what you want, But if you try sometime, you find You get what you need!’. And that any tinkering, skipping and attempted short-cutting is done from our position of partial knowledge and therefor liable to backfire. The cleverer we think we are with this, the more ‘misguided’ we may well be.
And then sometimes I imagine two forces at play. The progenitor or demi-urge you mention might well be the ultimate manifestation (at least to us) of the automatic process; The force of ever decreasing circles; An addictive roller-coaster ride into the hall of mirrors. The other force would be the opposite; A waking force and dissolving power.
I too, think that consciousness is the prime force, medium and movement. The only currency therefor is ‘wakefullness.’ It always trumps the dream. I imagine it is all a matter of degrees. Like in the film ‘Inception’; A dream within a dream within a dream.
If all is consciousness, then all is dream.
