I was always taken by Terence Mckenna’s ideas on the ingress of novelty. The kooky elements were sometimes difficult to take, but, ‘thinking’ about it further, when patterns unravel, the kooky is necessarily what is left. By its very nature the unpatterned can only be unexpected, unwanted and incomprehensible. (but not unneeded!)

Mckenna likened this ‘acceleration’ to a birth process; A time of peril, where, if you were not aware of the coming life and renewal, you could imagine it to be only the herald of impending death and chaos.
