Thanks there TheseEyes, I’m pleased if I got close to a flavour of that revelation; Namely that all that we know and think of as ourselves is but a tiny, naive fledgeling partitioned off from a much more fundamental entity. It is one thing to take this on board intellectually, filing it away under ‘psychological theories’, but quite another, when a bit more of the weight of that possibility really gives you a jolt.
I am just starting to get a little more jolted. It’s quite shocking to re-read books I thought I got, only to see so much more in them. In fact everything going on seems to be taking on another level of meaning.
Education is definitely a tricky business. I think you are spot on with the early years suggestibility to imprinting. This is the time when the foundation is laid. I don’t think adults/parents need to push anything though. Just an encouragement to playfulness and providing an accepting environment goes a long way. If kids can grow up and continue to be playful and also be their own person and not feel forced to go with the crowd, then it is job well done.
