How strange to ‘come to’, this very moment. And so, ‘the normal’ turns out to be not so obvious after all. Immense balls of rock, ice, fire and gas, hurtle through infinite space and we, and all that we know, find ourselves pulled onto just one of an infinite possibility of ball surfaces, held in thrall by an invisible force. What a predicament!
Thankfully a ‘Rosetta Stone’ has been embedded into our ‘scenario’ to provide some sort of clue to our plight. That key and great reminder is our nightly sojourn into the ‘land of dream’. This gives the inkling of ebb and flow; To rise, fall and rise again; Rhythms without end.
It seems far from obvious why we live, perceive, act and plan in a real persistent world for only half our time; The rest of the time we are irresistibly drawn to turn ourselves inside out; To withdraw our senses of what is real and be party to the spontaneous blossoming of a new world; A world that becomes ‘real’ when we inhabit it.
This blossoming of a new world then, is a natural outpouring. We do not will it. It seems to be ‘a rule’ that as we withdraw from one world, another world is spontaneously created.
We look around and see this rhythm in everything. We breath in and then out, transforming the air as we go. And watch the sun arc across the sky to hand over to the moon; All the while the tides ebb and flow.
As we learn the ways we notice it’s fractal nature. Similarity across scale. Worlds within worlds. ‘As below so above’.
It is not such a stretch to imagine our real world with all it’s myriad planets, suns and galaxies might be just such a natural creative outpouring; ‘Something’ unknowable is ‘dreaming’ our ‘world’. Of course our world is as ‘real as real can be’ to us. After all we are it’s inhabitants and we are made from it and embedded within it.
