The ‘hydrogens’ in this system seem to be vast groupings of substances, denoting what they do, their purpose and where they sit in the cosmology.

The difference between these substances is not just a matter of degrees it is of a different order.

For instance, H48 (Normal sensory impressions) compared to H96 (Fire/ rarefied gas)

According to this system the substances H1 and H3 are not available to human experience and H6 & H12 are manifested only very rarely in humans.

Of course this is just a map. Providing a different way of approaching things. All we can ask from a map is that it is more encompassing than the previous one we have been following. Then again, we use different maps depending on how far and where we want to go.
