The joys of the internet and social media! It is certainly a double edged sword. The boundaries of what it is appropriate to say appears quite mutable now because things are happening in real time and vast swathes of people are involved. Social media is the pack/ herd mentality par excellence. People are policing themselves, they have become the jail and jailers. I don’t see much conspiracy in this, just our worst instincts written large; The wish to fit in and the wish to see the successful brought low. The one’s brought low, though, seem to be just the everyday ordinary successful folk; The ‘local boys and girls done good’. The real power players and world changers are not in this bear pit and the baying crowd aren’t interested in them.

We happily carry around our own tracking, recording and video devices. And everything is kept forever. Tricky blooming times! I’m glad i’m not a teenager trying to navigate this precarious course.

On the upside, the established mainstream media is no longer a monopoly and ideas and information are much more widely available. It certainly feels like there has been an upping of the ante. The ways to ruin and addiction and also of growth and awareness are multiplying. Probably easier to go down the slide though.

Not sure misuse of ‘pronouns’ is jail-able here in Britain yet. We have always got away with some pretty ‘close to the bone’ creative stuff, on TV especially. We sometimes worry about our more puritanical American cousins though. (Lol)
