This business of consent is quite interesting to me. I tried to write about it a while ago, but in a somewhat rambling fashion.
I get the feeling that we have been nestled ‘safely’ in the dream up until now. I say safely because, like toddlers, we are not really fully responsible for our actions. Things can work themselves out over the aeons and lifetimes. Nothing is lost or wasted. ‘Good’ and ‘ill’ are all added to the stew. We are looked after and all will work itself out eventually.
To wake a little, then, is not entirely a garden of roses. Like the encounter with the guardian of the threshold; We start to be able to see things that were previously hidden.
As with our physical bodies which undergo the journey from childhood to adulthood, so too, do other more subtle parts of ourselves. This is a massive upping of the ante; Decisions carry more weight and consent given is binding.
