This is definitely interesting stuff. I often think there may be a very real barrier of perception limiting us, rather than one of distance.

After all, in an infinite universe, the range of what we are able to perceive is miniscule. We can 'see' certain particles within a tiny range of frequencies and 'hear' a tiny range of vibrations; These limits have been slightly extended by the technology we have developed, but still we are 'flying blind'.

Our perceivable world might be like being stuck on one TV channel. We are bound to that frequency and little suspect the multitude of other content and channels going on at the same 'time and place'. but seperated by the 'twiddle of a dial'.

The idea of a simulated reality is also intriguing. To say reality is simulated does not mean it is not real. It just means it is the product of an even more fundamental reality. Every world is 'real' to it's inhabitants. The dream is real for the dreamer!

The blossoming of our, possibly simulated, reality from a more fundamental reality might not be a matter of technology and computing; It may just be a natural 'outpouring', like when we quite naturally 'create' the nightly world of 'dream'. We do not will it. It just happens!
