To me, our shared reality seems to have a certain dream like quality. It’s certainly not the same as the dream world we inhabit during the night, but there is a similar taste.
The participants in our everyday reality (us) are all asleep to a certain extent. There are tales woven into ‘the dream’, of beings that have woken; So called ‘enlightened ones’, but what can we sleepers know of the ‘waking world?’
Discussing good and evil in the terms of a dream can cast more light on it.
When we dream at night we don’t think of it in terms of good and evil, but more as a working through of issues and symbols pertaining to the ‘higher’ waking realm.
In the dream, ‘reality’ is as much a reflection of the dreamer as it is a thing in itself.
As Solzhenitsyn stated, ‘The battle-line between good and evil runs through the heart of every man.’
I think you are right to recommend the investigation of eastern ideas of God. The world seems in deep turmoil due to belief in a ‘capricious dabbler’, who will smite one’s enemies. There seems power in our dreaming imagination though. I have no doubt these lesser angry deities exist ‘somewhere’, fuelled by our powerful group imaginings.
Strife and conflict seems to come from separation. The world is a reflection of ourselves.
Separation is also needed for exploration and growth; So we are caught in between. Striving to extend, while yearning for home.
